Feel comfortable and confident in your golf attire

You should feel confident in your golf clothes. That is, you should be confident in the performance of the clothes as well as confident that you look good. The latter breeds confidence to play well. You should feel that you fit in on the course without the worry that you may be either breaking the rules or look silly. If you like to spend time in the clubhouse after your round you want to feel comfortable in there too. Often, parents think that natural fabrics, such as cotton, are best for their kids to be wearing, but often, the technology of manmade fibres can be as good or even better in some cases as it is designed to evaporate away any sweat in hot conditions. That's not to say that cotton isn't any good but it's nice to have the choice. You can see some polo shirts made from different fabrics here "boys golf polo shirts"and here "Girls golf polo shirts"

Comfortable, weather appropriate and stylish golf clothes are best

It is very important to feel comfortable on the golf course and in the clubhouse, often the weather can vary quite considerably over the time spent playing a round, especially in the UK. It is therefore a good idea wear layers so that you can easily wrap up or cool down. Base layers for kids are a great addition to your golf wardrobe, they can be more flexible to swing in than a thick pullover but they'll keep you just as warm. These are ideal in the winter, spring and autumn too. Take a look here to see what's available in base layers

What you should not wear on the golf course?

  • Jeans / Denim, these are a definite no on the course, although lots of golf clubs are now allowing jeans to be worn in the clubhouse.
  • Sports tops, you should definitely not wear any tops from your favourite sports teams or clothing emblazoned with a sports team logo
  • Tracksuit bottoms, these are a definite no no on a private golf course although some municipal council owned courses will allow them.
  • Heavily branded clothes, such as tops with a large logo across the front of the shirt / sweater.

So what should we actually be wearing?

Sometimes the rules may be different as to what golf clothes to wear on the golf course as opposed to in the clubhouse. Here we will look at the what golf clothes to wear on the golf course. Golf is still considered to be very old school and pompous about the rules. It has to be said that recently, although correct golf attire is required on the course, opinions about what is regarded as correct golf attire have relaxed. For example, in recent years, we have seen tour professional players wearing trousers with elasticated hems that finish above the ankle with no socks on. Last year there was a huge discussion amongst golfers and commentators about the hoodie worn by @tyrellhatton at The BMW PGA championships at Wentworth.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_raw_html]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[/vc_raw_html][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]So there has definitely been a change in people's outlook on what is acceptable on the golf course. This has been a much needed update on tradition. Golf clubs have struggled to recruit and retain members, partly due to the stuffiness that has gone before. Kids certainly didn't want to wear some of the traditional clothing and so some of the barriers have come down. There is certainly a greater choice for kids out there and there is no excuse to look scruffy or argue that you can't find anything appropriate for your junior to wear. There are a few clothing companies that can provide kids golf clothes but not many that specialise in just that. Here is one of those companies. It should be noted however, that this is for when going on a private golf course. You'll find public golf courses or municipals as they are called, usually are a lot more forgiving on the dress code. It's best to call ahead if you're unsure and check what golf clothes to wear (or the dress code requirements) for that particular course before you go.

So what are the perfect golf clothes to wear?

1. Collared polo shirt

A collared polo shirt is the most important thing to wear when out on the golf course. Traditionally collared polo shirts are the go-to shirts for golfers, that is after people wore full button up shirts. Most golf courses are very strict on the wearing of a collared shirt when playing their course. Also the majority of them insist that the shirt should be tucked in to the trousers, this is becoming slightly more relaxed in recent years though but it's always polite to ask or check with the pro if it's a course you're not familiar with. If you don't have anything that's golf-related, you can wear a simple, plain polo shirt, to be honest, this is better than wearing a polo shirt which has large graphics or branding on it. If you're playing in the warmth, you'll need to get a lightweight polo, whereas if you're playing in the UK, it's likely you'll need a thicker one for warmth. You can find both here If the weather is still cool then instead of wearing a thick cumbersome jumper you can layer up by wearing a base layer. This will allow you to swing unhindered whilst keeping you warm in the English weather.

2. Smart trousers and shorts

Any smart trousers are allowed to be worn on the golf course though it is advised that you wear golf trousers. Not just because golf clothing companies want you to buy them but they are specifically designed for golf. A lot of golf trousers are actually smarter and cheaper than regular trousers. This is especially apparent when it comes to everyshotcounts kids golf trousers. These trousers and shorts look great on kids for any smart event including using them on holiday. They look as good when going out for a meal in the evening in the lovely Portuguese sunshine as they do out on the golf course. And they look as good on girls as they do on boys. An added bonus to wearing trousers and shorts specifically designed for golf is that, if they've been designed well, they will hold off a shower of rain but will allow your legs to breath if it's warm. They should also be easy to care for with washing and ironing being very straight forward. https://www.everyshotcounts.co.uk/ Proper golf trousers and shorts for kids are so much more than just a gimmick, they make kids feel like they're real golfers as well as looking the part, they are practical with the correct size pockets for scorecards etc... and also the pocket linings should be robust enough to hold tees, pitchmark, repairers, ball markers and so on. Often, kids can be seen on the golf course in their school trousers, and while this will be allowed on the course as they are proper trousers they really don't separate the sport from the day to day schooling in the childs' mind. The simple act of putting of the golf clothes starts the correct mindset to tackle the challenges ahead.

3. Skorts

Often girls don't really want to wear trousers or shorts out on the course, but instead,  they wear a skort. For those that may not know, this is a shortish skirt but with a pair of hidden shorts built in underneath. This allows girls to swing golf clubs freely and not worry about the skirt lifting as the built in shorts will hide any potential blushes. Although they Arte very popular for women they are not an easy item to find for girls. Again this is something that has been catered for abundantly at everyshotcounts.

4. What golf clothes to wear in the rain?

Waterproofs are an essential part of a golfers equipment. They ensure that you can stay dry and continue your game without getting soaked or cold or both. The difficulty is finding decent quality waterproofs for kids, adults have plenty to choose from but it's not so easy for kids. I wish I could post a link to tell you where the best place is to find them but unfortunatley it is a case of trawling the internet and trying them on. Obviously as kids grow, some quicker than others, it can be an annual job just to find some that fit. The good news is that there is a decent second hand market for kids golf waterproofs so if you're not too fussy about them being pre owned then that may be your best bet. Playing in the rain without decent waterproofs can be quite soul destroying so if you want your child to not get put off the game then it is a sound investment. It's the one thing that you need to own but never want to have to use!

5. What Golf Shoes to wear on the golf course?

Like waterproofs these can be a little harder to find than your average golf outfit, but don't despair as you will find shoes a little easier than waterproofs. Again, there is a very good second hand market for kids golf shoes and many are as good as new. This is because kids grow so fast that the shoes are still nearly new when they've grown out of them. It is important to wear golf shoes on the course instead of trainers or any other kind of shoes as they are designed specifically for the task. They are usually waterproof too. There is no need for metal spikes as was the case many years ago and many golfers are happy to play with spikeless golf shoes all year round. Some now have the plastic spikes but many are spikeless so this is really a matter of choice, there is no advantage to either. If your child is just starting out, either at the course or having group lessons at a driving range facility, worrying about what golf clothes to wear or shoes for that matter isn't your biggest worry.  There is no problem wearing trainers until you know that they happy to carry on and take up the game. Most golf courses would allow small children to play in trainers as long as they know it's a temporary measure and they will be using the correct footwear soon.

Clothing accessories you can use when playing golf

6. Hats

Golf caps (similar to baseball caps) or visors are great for playing golf in the sun and can be easily stored in the bag when not in use. Try to go for one that has golf brand on there or a generic sportswear brand, again avoid sports teams colours or logos.

7. Other accessories when playing golf.

Obviously the weather plays a huge factor in any outdoor activity and it is just as prevalent in golf as can be out there for 4 or so hours. As stated earlier, base layers and pullovers / midlayers are great to have in the golfers' wardrobe. When it's cold there are golf branded woolly hats which are very useful. My personal favourite is a snood, it keeps your next warm without getting in the way are unravelling like a scarf would. there are also winter golf gloves and golf mitts available as well as hand warmers. All of these things will prolong the season as you can stay out there for longer when it starts to get cold.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
